Killaloe, Co. Clare, Ireland
Killaloe is not only one of Ireland's most scenic locations. It is also steeped in history and legend, from Brian Boru, High King of Ireland a thousand years ago to the history of the river Shannon, its development and how changes affected Killaloe, to fishing, navigation, railway, its people and lots more.
I like to make all this fascinating history available to as many people as possible, to our local residents, school children and our visitors. I offer guided walking tours of Killaloe and a selection of local history books, written by renowned local historian Seán Kierse.
This site also includes an introduction to Killaloe's history - not yet completed but will be added to over next few weeks.
Keep an eye on the blog also for interesting articles, photographs etc. on our fascinating local history.
My Walking tours of Killaloe take you through it's remarkable history. As you walk along by our scenic river bank or through our narrow streets, or visit our ancient cathedral and oratories, you can relive our history. Walk in the footsteps of High Kings, Kings of Thomond, Saints, Bishops and our forefathers.
Tours can be tailored to suit your requirements, time, group size etc.
Individual tours are also available.
